Help Meg Hashimoto's thyroiditis / early onset papillary cancer fight with Love and Support!!!!
We are reaching out to ask for your help and support for someone incredibly special, our Meg, the most loving, generous, and kind-hearted soul who has always shown up for others. Now, she needs us to show up for her.
Many of you, this will be the first time hearing of this. Please feel free to reach out to me for any updates, but please don't alert Meg of this. She lobbied against it, but we also know how much she loves helping others and hates asking for help.
She has recently been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and early onset papillary cancer (just like her mom), a condition that has deeply affected her health, energy, and day-to-day life. She is on it, as you all know she is a fighter, and she is certainly giving this all she has. This is significantly affecting her life. As many of you know about her recent loss, her mom's cancer (similar to what she is fighting) just came back, and on top of all that, Meg's health is now being put through the wringer.
Despite the challenges, she continues to meet each day with grace, courage, and that warm, giving spirit we all know and love. She will now be facing a few different hurdles: her mind, body, but also the financial strain of ongoing medical appointments, diagnostic testing, treatments, medication, and potential surgery—expenses that add up quickly and have become overwhelming. Additionally, she will need to take some time off work as her thyroid is severely inflamed. Meg's business is doing well; however, she is yet to take home money outside of teaching. No teaching = no pay.
You all know how selflessly she’s poured into the lives of others. Whether it’s through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, throwing someone a party, or simply being there when it mattered most—her heart is always in the right place. She has always been the one many of us could count on. She has often carried our loads. Let’s return that love now, in her time of need.
Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward covering her medical expenses and helping her focus on healing without the added stress of finances. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this page and keeping Meg in your thoughts and prayers. And AGAIN, PLEASE DON'T REACH OUT TO MEG. Her 2nd sobriety birthday is coming up on May 20th. Would love to surprise her and shower her with any love we can all pull together!
Together, we can help lift some of the weight off her shoulders and show her that she’s not alone in this journey.
Here is the latest with where the medical stuff is at:
Hashimoto's thyroiditis / Early onset papillary thyroid cancer (what mom has)
Her thyroid antibody levels are skyrocketed
TS4 is high
TSH is high
TS3 is average
She has 3 nodules that are solid mass:
1. 1.3cm
2. 0.6cm
3. 0.4cm
Thyroid is extremely inflamed and also has a cyst in the middle of her glands
Next steps:
Another ultrasound and a biopsy will be done in the next day or so.
Automatically:
New medications
Immediate diet change
No teaching to let meds kick in and throat rest
Keep stress low
Potential treatment: specialized meds and/or surgery
Prognosis: sounds like a lot and it is a lot. I bet you can imagine the weight Meg feels. However, both conditions are highly treatable and the nodules are small! Seems like we caught this very early and can get a handle on it with the proper treatment plan!
THANK YOU GUYS!
With love and gratitude,
Molly and Friends
