Join Us in Supporting Leland on This Journey Battling Cancer
Donation protected
To the Lighthouse Christian School community and even beyond,
We are asking everyone to come together and help support our second-grade classmate, Leland Mitchell. After attending two days of school in September, he was diagnosed with a rare, incurable Stage 4 brain cancer. Per the family’s request, we ask at this time that you DO NOT share Leland’s diagnosis with your children. If your children inquire about Leland, please tell them that he is sick, and nothing more. His 3 siblings attending Lighthouse are not aware of his condition, nor is Leland. As you can imagine, giving such devastating news to the family is unimaginably difficult, and they would appreciate your understanding and to respect their wishes in letting such news come from them when they are ready.
Rozalynn (Leland’s mom) is diligently trying to source additional alternatives in finding a cure, so if you can provide any helpful insight or medical professionals she can reach out to, that would be extremely appreciated. Leland is currently receiving daily radiation and chemotherapy treatments at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Fred Hutch cancer center at UW. We are gathering around this family with meals, prayers, and support. Please feel free to help this wonderful Lighthouse family through our meal train (which will be sent separately) or by donating to help with all the unforeseen expenses incurred during this incredibly trying time.
