Our dear friend Ashlea White’s mother, Kelly, has made progress in her journey after being denied by two other transplant facilities.

Fortunately, Houston Methodist accepted her for a liver transplant, and she is currently undergoing treatment in Houston. However, the road ahead is still challenging.

Kelly will need to stay in Houston for at least three months, and her husband, Rick, has already run out of paid leave. To be by Kelly’s side, Rick will have to take unpaid time off, while bills back home in Oklahoma continue to add up.

Rick, Ashlea, and Kelly’s sister Amy will rotate traveling to Houston to support her, which brings significant costs for travel, lodging, and food. Additionally, they face mounting medical bills throughout this process. Once Kelly is discharged, she will require 24-hour care from a family member for at least 30 days.
