Hello, my name is Elizabeth. This GoFundMe is for my 23-year-old daughter, Isabella Schermerhorn. Many of you know Bee from the beautiful dance and aerial acts they have performed on the island's stages over the years and from always being a stylish, kind and helpful presence at our family's store, Faraways Boutique, in town.

As most of you know, Isabella rapidly became very sick over the summer and was hospitalized multiple times. After a bunch of tests and lots of great doctors at Providence, they were finally diagnosed with a rare blood disease called refractory ITP. This disease is hard to treat, chronic, and causes her body to attack and kill off her blood platelets. The medications and injections Isabella requires to keep her blood platelets from dropping dangerously low are extremely expensive, and insurance only covers some of the cost. Isabella has had to travel off-island for blood draws, injections, and doctor visits multiple times a week for the past two months. The medical bills are vast, overwhelming, and VERY large, and insurance will only cover a portion of them. The injections and medications needed monthly also have huge co-pays.
