My name is Cathy Sousa… I never imagined that I would gain more brothers (some older and mostly younger than me) during my deployment to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army in 2012; but that’s exactly what happened after when I assisted those that served with the United States Armed Forces with their paperwork.
One of my younger brothers is Aj. He and his made it out of Afghanistan just before the withdrawal in March of 2021 and immigrated to the Netherlands.
In March of 2023, they finally received their visas where they immigrated to the United States and settled in Delaware. They absolutely love living in here. His kids love school, especially his daughters.
Aj’s 7 year old daughter, Hamsa, was just diagnosed with brain cancer. She has a large malignant mass on the 4th ventricle of her brain. She is in a children’s hospital in Wilmington, Delaware and having brain surgery TODAY, July 16. The surgery will last 8 hours…
Hamsa will be in the hospital for 7 weeks after the surgery and AJ is there with her the entire time. His wife is at home with the remaining kids. They also just had a baby in March.
This also means, he cannot work during this time.. which means no income coming in to cover their bills or basic expenses. Contrary to popular belief, he receives zero assistance and even had repay the government their travel expenses TO the United States!!!
If you can give any amount.. skip the coffee, soda, lunch out, adult beverage etc. for one day; it would be greatly greatly appreciated.
If you can’t donate, please share this.
Please pray, send good wishes, good vibes to this family and to little Hamsa during her surgery and her recovery.
Hugs your children. And be very thankful if they are healthy.
I will be providing updates on Hamsa’s progress as it becomes available.
-Cathy
