Greg is a loving husband, father, and the steady rock of our family. He has always been the one to show up for others—whether through hard work, kindness, or a helping hand. There isn’t one person within the Gettysburg community who doesn’t know “Gerbs”.

Recently, our lives were turned upside down when he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It can weaken bones, impair the immune system, and affect the kidneys and blood counts.

He is now facing intensive treatments that include chemotherapy and ongoing medical care in Pierre and Sioux Falls. While we are hopeful and trusting the process, this journey is physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelming.

A tentative date for a Stem Cell Transplant in Sioux Falls is in the plan for the immediate future.

A Stem Cell Transplant is a medical procedure used to help treat certain cancers, including multiple myeloma. It works by first giving high-dose chemotherapy to destroy cancer cells in the bone marrow. Because this treatment also damages healthy bone marrow, previously collected healthy stem cells of Gregs are then infused back into the body. These stem cells travel to the bone marrow and begin making new, healthy blood cells, helping the immune system and blood counts recover.

This transplant will include a 2 week hospital stay, and a 2-4 week outpatient recovery in Sioux Falls.

Between medical bills, travel for treatment, medications, and time away from work, the costs are adding up quickly. We created this GoFundMe to help relieve some of that financial pressure so our family can focus on what matters most—his healing and our time together.
