Help Support Dori, Rony, & Baby Exanté on Their NICU Journey
On Saturday morning 8/23, my twin sister Dori knew something wasn’t right. Her baby boy hadn’t been moving the way he normally did and she hadn't felt a kick since the night before. She tried everything the nurse recommended—laying down, drinking cold water, changing positions—but still nothing. Trusting her instincts, she went to the hospital to be checked.
Once there, the monitors showed that baby’s heart rate kept dropping dangerously low. Even though he passed a 30-minute ultrasound, the doctors knew something wasn’t right. They quickly arranged for Dori to be transported by ambulance to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield, where there is a NICU, in case he needed immediate support.
As soon as she arrived, her blood pressure spiked, and the doctors rushed her into surgery for an emergency C-section. When baby Exanté was delivered, the doctors discovered the umbilical cord was twisted tightly—like a rubber band—cutting off the nutrients he needed to grow. The doctor told her that if she had waited any longer, the outcome would not have been the same.
By God’s grace, both Dori and baby Exanté are here with us. Exanté was born at just 30 weeks and will need to stay in the NICU for the next 7–8 weeks to get stronger before he can come home.
This has been an overwhelming and unexpected journey. While Dori recovers from surgery, she and her husband Rony will need to stay close to the hospital in Springfield. Between medical bills, travel costs, food, housing, and the extended NICU stay, the financial burden is heavy on top of the emotional stress.
We are asking for support—whether through donations, meals, or prayers—to help Dori, Rony, and baby Exanté through this critical season.
Every little bit makes a difference and brings them one step closer to stability and healing.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our family during this time.
If you feel led to give, please know your support will directly help Dori, Rony, and baby Exanté with medical and living expenses while he fights to grow strong in the NICU.
Thank you and God bless!
