UPDATE: Dave is continuing to undergo treatment and further testing in Marshfield where he will remain for an undisclosed time. This will be followed by rehabilitation and therapy. Saturday was a bad day, his stitch was leaking and they gave him a CT scan and it showed he had too much fluid so they put the tube back in his head. Then they were going to do surgery on Sunday to put the shunt in. That didn't happen because his fever was high and they were worried about an infection so they are treating for an infection. Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the plan for surgery to put the shunt in. His spams are a little better and he is moving left arm little more than before.
Please continue to pray for Dave, Denise, and his care team. And if you are able to contribute, please do so as this is going to be a long journey for them.
My name is Chris Kvapil. Hunter Nelson and I are coworkers and friends of Denise (Ouimet) Robinson. We will be providing updates to Dave Robinson's status as we get them from Denise.
On November 18th, at approximately 1:30, while Dave was at work, he kept telling his coworker he had a horrible headache. His coworker called the ambulance. He was taken to the hospital in Minocqua and was transferred to Marshfield. He had a brain aneurysm. It burst on the 18th. He also suffered his first stroke on November 18th.
While recovering in the ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Dave suffered a second stroke in the early morning hours of November 27th. This stroke has left Dave unable to move his legs on his own, and he has very weakened minimal use of his left arm. It affected his ability to speak as well (some of his speech is slowly coming back). Dave is going to require extensive physical therapy, occupational, and speech therapy in the weeks and months ahead.
Dave is still in the hospital in Marshfield, and Denise has been there every day to be at his side. She encourages his movement and his speech, communicates with his nurses and doctors, and she stays on top of everything that is happening with his care and treatment.
Denise hasn't been able to work since the 18th of November. She needs to be with Dave. She has been commuting back and forth each day. Everyday bills and expenses continue to compound: travel, gas, meals, housing, utilities, and the heating season has just begun. Dave and Denise will be facing multiple challenges and unforeseen expenses as they get closer to the day when Dave will be able to come home. They will need to look at making their home handicap accessible, accessible transportation for Dave for appointments, for therapy and doctor appointments, and everyday life.
Dave and Denise have been without income for weeks now, and this is a time when friends, families, and small communities pull together and support each other in their most difficult times. Every little bit helps. If you can't donate, please share the link.
