My name is Jessie, and we've created a GoFundMe for my husband, Dave Jones, as he navigates his recent bladder cancer diagnosis. In mid-October, he discovered blood in his urine, which prompted a doctor's visit followed by a CT scan. Masses were detected in his bladder, and on October 22nd, we were told he has bladder cancer. We've hit the ground running with many appointments and procedures. Dave had his first TURBT (Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor) on November 15th. Pathology showed Dave's cancer is High Grade T1 with a high volume of disease. It also showed lymphovascular invasion, which places him in a high-risk category. Unfortunately, this means his cancer is both aggressive and likely to return. Dave had his second TURBT on December 2nd, and we are awaiting the results to learn if there is any residual cancer and whether it's muscle invasive. From there, we'll learn what our options are for treatment and next steps.
This diagnosis has changed our lives. We've been taken aback by how many appointments and medical procedures Dave has gone through in the first six weeks of this journey.
This GoFundMe will help with Dave's medical and other expenses to support our family. We've been overwhelmed by the number of people who have reached out asking how to help. It's truly humbling to be on this side of asking for help, and we cannot express enough gratitude for your support and generosity.
We are facing the reality that this will be a long and uncertain journey ahead. We felt compelled to start a GoFundMe in an effort to allow Dave to focus on his treatments and recovery, without worrying about finances and medical expenses. Please check our CaringBridge site for the latest updates.
Thank you for the love and support!
Jessie, Dave & Ruby
