Join Us in Supporting Daniel Garcia's Fight

Dear Friends and Family,

We are starting this GoFundMe in support of our dear colleague and friend, Daniel Garcia. For the past several years, Daniel has been courageously battling Multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer. Unfortunately, in the last couple of months, his cancer has returned with more intensity than ever before.

Many of you know Daniel Garcia, who, along with his partner Lena, has been an integral part of the CCSC Preschool family for over 80 years combined. Lena, also an early childhood educator, has been a pillar of strength and support for Daniel. Daniel has dedicated his life to serving young children, leaving an indelible mark on our community through his music, storytelling, and unwavering compassion. Whether it was singing to the children and playing music, his animated storytelling, or his wise advice for anyone who would listen, Daniel has always been a source of joy and inspiration. Throughout his challenging journey over the past few years, he has consistently floored us with his positivity and optimism, always smiling and looking toward a brighter future, no matter the challenges.

Now, it's our turn to offer them the same support they have freely given to others. We know that medical expenses and time away from work can create significant financial strain, and we want to help alleviate some of that burden.

We've created this platform to allow our community to unite and show their support for Daniel and Lena during this challenging time. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference and allow them to focus on Daniel's health and well-being. More importantly, your thoughts and well wishes are deeply appreciated.

That special glow children have is coming from their bright future. Of course, there is nothing missing, nothing lacking in their present condition, but still, we cherish hopes for their continued growth. First, may they be perceptive enough to tell the difference between what is true and what is false, who is sincere and who is not. Between ripe and rotten and they continue to refine their ability to read these and other subtle distinctions. Secondly, to practice one’s chosen language -whether arts or science or sports or dance, chemistry, whatever the medium- so as to fully express their potential to find an arena in which to demonstrate the gift which each of us has. May every child lean into the task of opening up that great inner reservoir of creativity and make a special contribution to humanity. Finally, may children embrace the challenge to wake up and feel the burning desire to pursue their research, polish their song, and find the resources to propel them forward. May they live with eagerness, boundless enthusiasm, and experience, relentless waves of curiosity crashing on the shores of their reality, sweeping away the superfluous, revealing the authentic, the precious, the beautiful.
