Hi, my name is Michael Palacios. I’m Florrita’s son and i’m writing this on behalf of my family.
On July 6, 2025, our world was turned upside down when we lost our beloved mother, Florrita M. Harker, in a tragic car accident.
My family (my mother, 2 of my brothers, my stepfather, and our family dog) was on their way home from spending an incredible family day trip in Island Park when they ended up in a fatal car accident . My youngest brother was ejected from the car along with our family dog Lucy. My youngest brother, who has autism, suffered more of the serious injuries (4 broken ribs, bruises, and he messed up his arm pretty bad) and is now facing a long and difficult road to recovery—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Thankfully my stepdad & older brother walked away with only some cuts and bruises. Though we had incredible bystanders help us and had immediate help, my beautiful mother and our family dog did not survive.
My mom was a light, my beautiful flower is what I would call her. She gave more than she ever took, she opened her arms to anyone and everyone. She was always cracking jokes and making fun. She lit up every room she walked into. She had so many dreams and things she wanted to do. One of her dreams was partially completed and that was finding out she was going to be a grandmother. She was so excited to meet her granddaughter Violet and would light up every time she talked about her.
My mom was not only the heart & light of our family, she was also the primary caregiver to my youngest brother. Her passing has left a devastating void in our lives, and we are now trying to navigate an unimaginable new reality without her steady love and support.
We are reaching out with open hearts and humble hands. Due to the sudden and unexpected nature of her passing, our family was not financially prepared, and we are facing overwhelming funeral costs, medical bills, and the need to provide ongoing care for my brother.
Any amount you’re able to give—no matter how small—would mean the world to us. And even if you’re not able to donate, please keep our family in your prayers and help share this page.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, your support, and your kindness during this incredibly painful time.
With gratitude,
Michael Palacios & Family ❤️
