Hello friends, family and kind folks,
Our dear friend Jesse, continues to fight her cancer fight and before we go into another medical journey, we would like to take a moment to talk about this woman we all are here for and love, Jesse, beyond her cancer battle.

Jesse is the most selfless person we know. From her work to her personal life, she is tirelessly giving of herself to others. Her kindness, her positive energy, her relentless pursuit of genuine connection and acceptance of every person she comes in contact with leave us in awe and admiration on a regular basis.

Jesse is more than a friend, she is a contributor to our communities through her two jobs. She is a Behavioral Analyst who travels around the country to train teachers and staff to care for and nurture children who are on the autism spectrum. Most of her work is in remote and underserved school districts in rural areas, where resources for childhood development are limited. Her work brings her to many airports, cities, and early morning adventures, which does not make it easy for her to manage her health.

We are asking our generous community for financial support to help Jesse heal after her recent surgery to remove a tumor. She was originally diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2013 and had surgery to have her thyroid removed, but not all of the cancerous cells could be removed. Since then, Jesse has been managing the remaining cancer by traveling to Denver, CO every six months for cancer screenings of the tumors in her neck, and by undergoing blood testing every eight weeks to manage her thyroid hormone replacement levels. In her most recent semi-annual screening her doctors discovered that one of her tumors was growing. After a complex evaluation and a second opinion that needed to be referred to the tumor review board, Jesse decided with her doctors to take the surgical route and try to take this tumor out for good.

Jesse works two jobs to pick up the financial burden of her medical costs. She worked until the day before her surgery, after flying back to UPenn for Treatment. Jesse has health insurance but expends her out-of-pocket maximum every year and incurs lots of travel, testing, and non-insurance funded medical costs. Every little bit helps our dear friend Jesse get healthy and focus on her recovery.

We appreciate all help and healing vibes everyone can provide and are asking all of us to consider helping Jesse by sharing the financial burden that unfortunately comes with her diagnosis and treatment. To help take a little stress off her plate so she can focus on healing.
