As many of you may know, Mike had a surgery the beginning of February to help recover usage of his arms and therefore increase his independence and quality of life. While the surgery was successful, the rehab and recovery is a long and exhausting road. We know that the best path of recovery for Mike is to get back to normal at home, unfortunately this is not as easy as it may seem.
For at least the next 8 weeks, Mike will have some physical restrictions to protect the healing of his neck. He’s limited to lifting less than 10 pounds which makes transfers a little more tricky. He will be needing help in the morning and evening getting in/out of bed, dressing, and transfers. If you are willing to do the physical help, we’d love that (reach out to Mike!!) but we also know that is not possible for many people.
Necessary home health care is not easy to come by, and just as difficult to sustain. This is where you all come in. As his friends, family, confidants, fellow snowmobilers and sailors, and anyone he’s given peace sign to, this is your way to return that love.
