On the night of October 25, Telesma co-founder / keyboardist / drummer / electronic musician / singer and lyricist Jason Sage was in a serious car accident. The Lyft car in which he was a passenger made a turn into oncoming traffic and was hit, causing the car to crash and catch on fire. Jason survived the crash and dragged himself to safety but suffered a broken cervical spine among other injuries. He underwent surgery at Johns Hopkins and is now home.

Special thanks to our awesome nurse, Rob Stempel, who is helping us with Jason’s medications and acting as liaison to the medical team. And extra special shout out to Edmund Pirali, who is handling several aspects of Jason’s care (and who has been a superhero to the band every time we have found ourselves in one of these health emergencies!).

Also extra special thanks to Jacqui Hossfeld and Jessica Snow, and to Rimi Basu, who stayed with Jason for several days. Thanks to Larry Cohen and Theresa Keil (and Jessica) for the transport!

Jason’s recovery is supposed to take at least 6 months, and during that time he will be unable to work. Thanks to Seth Milder, we are having some success getting health insurance set up for him that we hope will cover his hospitalization and for the long period of physical therapy he will need.

He was uninsured, and was unable to get any of his October medical bills, which are extensive, covered by insurance or Medicaid.

Jason is a very humble guy and wouldn’t let us share his situation until now. He has finally given us permission to let the public know about what happened, so we are trying to “summon the troops.”
