Nuestro querido amigo Luis “Lucho” Bonilla es una de las personas más nobles, generosas y de corazón más cálido que uno puede conocer. Llegó a Australia como estudiante internacional y ha trabajado incansablemente para construir un futuro mejor, tanto para él como para la familia a la que apoya con tanto amor desde la distancia.

Lamentablemente, hace poco sufrió un grave accidente laboral. Cayó 5 metros desde un techo, lo que le provocó una lesión cerebral traumática severa, múltiples fracturas de cráneo con un hematoma extradural, además de fracturas en el fémur, costillas y antebrazo. Lucho se encuentra actualmente en estado crítico y permanece en coma inducido mientras recibe atención médica urgente.

Su camino médico apenas comienza. La etapa que viene incluirá múltiples cirugías, tratamientos, terapias y una rehabilitación a largo plazo. Su familia también enfrentará grandes cargas emocionales y financieras mientras sus papás buscan los medios para viajar desde Colombia an Australia y luego mientras lo acompañan día a día y afrontan gastos médicos, de viaje y de vida.

En este momento tan difícil, su familia y amigos les pedimos humildemente su apoyo, amor y oraciones. Sus palabras de aliento y energía positiva significan mucho para todos nosotros y darán fortaleza a Lucho y a su familia mientras enfrentamos lo desconocido.

También queremos expresar nuestra más profunda gratitud al equipo médico que cuida de Lucho. Su dedicación, experiencia y compasión nos dan esperanza cada día, y estamos profundamente agradecidos por todo lo que están haciendo.

Aunque no siempre entendamos por qué la vida nos presenta desafíos tan duros, seguimos aferrados a la fe. Con Dios en el centro de esta familia, confiamos en que su camino hacia la recuperación comenzará muy pronto. Oramos para que este capítulo traiga sanación, fuerza y nuevas posibilidades para Lucho.

Our dear friend Luis “Lucho” Bonilla is one of the most heart-warming, noble, and generous people you could ever meet. He arrived in Australia as an overseas student and has worked tirelessly to build a better future, both for himself and for the family he lovingly supports back home.

Devastatingly, he recently suffered an accident at work. He fell 5 metres from a roof, leaving him with a severe traumatic brain injury, multiple skull fractures with an extradural haematoma, as well as femoral, rib, and forearm fractures. Lucho is currently in a critical condition and remains in an induced coma while he receives urgent medical care.

His medical journey is only beginning. The road ahead will include ongoing surgeries, treatment, therapies, and long-term rehabilitation. His family will also be facing significant emotional and financial burdens as they support him daily and navigate travel, living costs, and medical expenses. Lucho’s family is currently in Colombia and are trying to find the means to travel across the world to Australia to be with their son once again.

During this incredibly difficult time, his family and friends kindly ask for your support, love, and prayers. Your words of encouragement and positive energy mean so much and will bring strength to Lucho and his family as we face the unknown.

We also want to express our deepest gratitude to the neurologist and medical team caring for Lucho at the Royal North Shore Hospital. Their dedication, expertise, and compassion give us hope each day, and we are profoundly thankful for everything they are doing.

Though we may not always understand why life brings such heavy challenges, we continue to hold onto faith. With God at the centre of this family, we trust that his road to recovery will start very soon. We pray that this chapter leads to healing, strength, and renewed possibility for Lucho.
