The Red Riding Hood Rescue Project aims to be a leader in raising the bar for wolf and wolfdog sanctuaries and rescues. We are striving to improve welfare, safety standards and husbandry practices. And to accomplish this, we have been reaching out for community support.

Part of our commitment to growth means creating a team who is knowledgeable and confident in their skills while caring for these complex animals. Wolfdogs are unique and require special care. We have began providing workshops to prepare and support our staff.

Brittany McDonald, from Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in Candy Kitchen, New Mexico, a well-known professional in the wolfdog field, visited The Red to offer a workshop on emergency and safety protocols. Now, we are on a mission to continue to improve our facility and raise our standards of care.

Brittany provided sessions to our team on animal CPR, animal and staff safety, interpreting and reacting to animal body language, understanding behavioral shifts, awareness of energy, considerations of facility weaknesses and emergency response practices. As a newer organization, we were grateful to have this workshop, which motivated us to build to the highest standards for our animal's safety as well as our staff's.

Now, our current focus is ensuring we are prepared with all of the right tools and equipment. Can you help us today?

We are raising money for improvements to perimeter fencing, hot wire containment, and safety capture tools such as custom Y-poles and nets, emergency supplies and safety tools. These items are ones that can make all the difference in tragedy or emergency.
