Support for Ed "Kelly" Sisson's Fight Against Colon Cancer
Our dad, Ed Sisson—many know him as “Kelly”—was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. If you know him, you know he’s the kind of guy who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Now, our family is asking for your support as he faces a tough battle of his own.
Last Monday, our dad started experiencing severe stomach pain, prompting a visit to urgent care the next day. After a CAT scan, the doctors informed us that there were suspicious, cancerous growths in his colon. Shortly after, he was admitted to the hospital for further tests, including a colonoscopy, which confirmed the diagnosis of colon cancer.
To fight this, our dad will need major surgery for a bowel resection, followed by approximately six weeks of recovery. We are holding onto hope and praying fervently for his strength and healing, and we truly believe he will beat this.
However, as many of you know, the road to recovery comes with significant medical expenses. While some of his treatments are covered, there are still many costs that are not. In addition to medical bills, there will be everyday living expenses that we are struggling to meet.
If you are able, we would be incredibly grateful for any donations to help ease the financial burden during this challenging time. Every little bit makes a difference. And if you’re unable to contribute financially, we completely understand and would still deeply appreciate your prayers and sharing this message.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. Together, we know we can help Dad through this tough time.
Update:
I wanted to share a quick update on a few things that developed today.
Dad spoke with the surgeon’s office and has an appointment on April 8th to discuss the resection surgery—hopefully, it will be scheduled then. In the meantime, he’s been given the go-ahead to start eating soft foods, which is a relief since we’ve been worried about his weight loss. However, if his pain increases, he’ll need to go back to the ER, as that could indicate a blockage.
It looks like we’re still at least a couple of weeks away from surgery, which makes me anxious because I don’t think this should be delayed. On the plus side, he’ll be able to work a little in the meantime. He was worried about the fundraiser still being active since he’s been cleared to work for now, but the overall situation hasn’t changed—things are just taking longer than we initially expected.
We’re incredibly grateful for the donations. Your generosity means so much and will help ease the stress of the recovery period and any future treatments. Thank you!
