On Friday, July 25th Sobi was taken to the hospital by her son Chris a week after sustaining an injury from a fall at work. On Friday, she told her son that she had level 9 out of 10 pain in her side. Testing at the hospital showed that Sobi was in a hypertensive crisis and was being treated for Congestive Heart Failure as well as a blood clot in her spleen as a result of her fall. She has hypertension, Lupis and diabetis that she unfortuntually cannot afford to treat due to not being able to afford health insurance and without that, the neccesary medication. On Sunday, July 27th, Sobi suffered from a stroke due to a blood clot in her brain. As of July 28th, doctors have discovered cancer in her lymph nodes which they believe is the cause of the blood clot in her brain. Sobi will remain the hospital with her daughter, Naomi, son, Chris and son-in-law, Eric by her side as she starts the long road to healing.

Even with health insurance, this would be a devasting fiancial burden to bare. Without insurance, the cost of her medical treatment is insuramountable to face alone. We're calling on our friends, loved ones and strangers to help however they can at this time. As fellow service industry workers, health insurance is hard to come by, often making "too much" to have access to state insurance programs but not enough to afford health care out of our own pockets. This is a situation those of us without health insurance all fear and have most likely experienced personally before or have a friend who has been in a similar situation.

Sobi is a career server and has worked for decades taking care of others and now it's time for us to show up and take care of her. Once she's able to leave the hospital, she will have to take a copious amount of time off of work which will only add to the fiancial burden she's facing. It will be a long road of recovery ahead and our hope with this GoFundMe is to ease as much of the fiancial burden as we possibly can. Her children are her only family here and we want her to know she's not alone in her fight to heal.

Restaurants are a place to unwind, celebrate, grieve, bond, making memories and a place we all turn to when we need a break. Sobi has served countless people over her decades in the industry and has provided that place of refuge from whatever life has thrown our way.
