My name is Amanda, and I’ve started a GoFundMe for my dear friend and chosen family member, Dawn-Mari Martin. Many of you know Dawn-Mari—especially those who visited Country Waffles in Los Banos, where she worked faithfully for 30 years.

Because Dawn-Mari is a very private person, many may not know that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. Thankfully, her treatment so far has been successful, and she will soon learn whether she is officially in remission. However, the toll of treatment has led to additional medical complications, making it impossible for her to continue working.

As you can imagine, this has been incredibly stressful for her—and stress is the last thing she needs while trying to heal. While she awaits a decision on her disability appeal, she is unable to work, and the bills have continued to pile up. With frequent doctor’s appointments and ongoing health needs, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

Anyone who knows Dawn-Mari knows how kind, loving, and selfless she is. She has always shown up for others in their time of need, and now it’s our turn to show up for her. My hope is that we can come together as a community to help ease her burden and give her the space and peace she needs to continue healing.
