To our dearest family and friends, I hope this message finds you well. In this season of gift-giving, we sincerely knock on your generous hearts to help us save the life of our brother Carlo. He is a hard-working, loving husband and stepdad who lives a content and simple life, running their food stall business in Davao City, Philippines, until his life took an unexpected turn in mid-August 2024.
A couple of weeks before his 58th birthday, he was rushed to the hospital with very low blood pressure, severe anemia, and was found to have a bleeding mass at the junction between his esophagus and stomach. This led to a series of tests, procedures with biopsies, multiple blood transfusions, hospitalizations, and multiple trips to the main capital of Manila for further studies. The journey to find proper care and timely diagnosis has been daunting, not to mention the challenges of having health insurance coverage in the Philippines. When they finally determined that he is battling Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of soft tissue cancer, the specialists both in Davao and Manila were also faced with a challenge as they are unfamiliar with the disease, leaving our brother Carlo and our family in a difficult situation.
Hence, we decided to seek a third medical evaluation and treatment in Singapore, a move that comes with significant costs. Chemotherapy has been started, on his 3rd cycle now, and the family’s small food business can hardly keep up with the daily expenses. The road ahead is long and fraught with financial and emotional challenges. Thus, we, his siblings, are asking for your support through the GoFundMe page. All financial help will go directly to cover Carlo’s medical expenses such as cycles of chemotherapy, booster IV infusions, PET scans, blood transfusions, food allowance, and an extended-stay apartment (YMCA) for his temporary home in Singapore.
Please help us spread our campaign among your friends and colleagues and help us raise the funds he needs. We dearly appreciate your compassion and generosity. May the holiday spirit find it in your heart to help keep our brother alive. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and God bless you all.
