Our dogs are our whole world! We would be lost without them and Jack is a spitfire in need of your love and support. Imagine if this happened to you.

Monday night we went to bed with nothing unusual having happened. During the night we started to hear our dog, Jack, start to cough. This wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Then, when we woke up, we kept hearing this and he seemed to have something in his throat. We thought it would go away. But throughout the day, it got worse very quickly and we were forced to rush him to an emergency vet in Modesto. The vet said she suspected he was in heart failure, which floored and devastated us. We couldn't think straight.

He had to be kept in hospital in an oxygen tank crate for 18+ hours just to help him breathe and then extensive test were done to verify the diagnosis. They needed to start treatments right away and he was given meds by iv and also administered a catheter. Vet bills are expensive even in the best of times and we are definitely NOT in the best times at the moment.

He is one of 2 chihuahuas and this is the second time this year that we have had to have one of them treated, as Jack's sister, Chanel came as close to dying as possible in January and has only just turned a corner. Her food intolerance for animal protien left her unable to eat anything but vegetarian food for dogs and that took some time to figure out.

So our finances have all but run out, otherwise we would never ask for help that we didn't absolutely need.

We are animal lovers, much like a lot of you. We understand that times are hard right now, and we don't take lightly the fact that we are asking for our community's help for an emergency hospitalization and treatment for our precious little chihuahua, Jack.

We have no kids, so our dogs are our kids. They provide much-needed mental health support and deserve all the love and support we can give them. This was an unexpected event, and we just would ask for anyone that can, to help give anything they can afford to give.

We are all in this together in this life and would love to feel the support of our community, even if we can't meet the goal. Every little bit helps. We would never ask if it wasn't absolutely necessary.
