Join Us in Caring for Our Beloved Odin

I have lost so much this year: Samson, my dad, and Robert, in that order.

2024 has been the worst year of my life since my mom passed away in 2000. I cannot lose Robert's and my Odin. He became sick on Tuesday, vomiting and diarrhea. Didn't think much of it, as he eats everything. Yesterday (Sept 28), he was very lethargic and not getting better. I called around to vets to see who could see him. I took him to On Point Vet Hospital in Middleton. They made us stay in the car so they could do a Parvo test. It came back positive. I have no clue how he contracted it. He's not been out of our yard. He was at the hospital for 3 hours getting IV fluids, antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, and other supportive care. There is no cure for parvo, just have to keep him hydrated and comfortable. That 3-hour visit cost $900. He's going to need multiple visits. They sent me home with fluids (subcutaneous fluids that I have to insert a needle and let flow in under his skin) and an anti-nausea med. Now that I know what's wrong, I realized that they never tested Jake or Samson for parvo, and they both had the same symptoms. This vet said it lives in the dirt for 7-9 years. I really believe this is what killed both of them. I owe $4,400 to Care Credit. This is what I had to get to pay for Samson's care and cremation. I'm going to be struggling financially for a while; going from 2 incomes down to 1 is extremely difficult. Please help if you can.
