Hi everyone! Can you believe it’s been TEN years since my first medical mission? This will be my seventh time participating with Medical Outreach and Community Assistance of WNY, traveling to the Dominican Republic from February 27-March 7th.
I will be gone for a week, visiting some of my absolute favorite people and villages in the Puerto Plata region. Being part of the medical team, we set up free clinics in different rural areas every day to provide free medical care to a wide range of ages.
Last year, we focused on fundraising for the hemoglobinometer, a way to quickly measure a patient’s hemoglobin and determine if they qualified for an iron fish. This year, I would like to help focus on dental care as well as education on control of hypertension.
With that being said, any money that is raised will be used to purchase dental hygiene products and blood pressure cuffs. Blood pressure cuffs would be left at each clinic.
Thank you all for your continued support throughout the years, I appreciate it immensely!
