Calling All 20 Minutes to Fitness Regulars and Trainers—Past and Present

Our dear friend Jacque Dampier, a cherished member of our 20 Minutes to Fitness family, was directly impacted by the devastating EF3 tornado that tore through our community on May 26th.

Jacque, her son Deandra, and her daughter Donisha all live on the 4400 block of San Francisco in the Penrose neighborhood. Tragically, all three of their homes suffered significant damage in the storm. Roofs and gutters were torn apart, windows shattered, and their detached brick garages were either heavily damaged or completely destroyed.

Jacque is currently living in a home with 7 of her 8 windows boarded up, leaving almost no natural light while she cleans up the debris and glass that blanketed her house. Even her basement wasn’t spared—its windows were blown out and sustained extensive damage.

Donisha’s home was hit just as hard. Her electrical panel was damaged and she’s unable to restore power until it’s replaced. She also has five windows boarded up, adding to the challenge of making her home livable again.

Thankfully, Jacque and her children do have home insurance—but as many of us know, the road to recovery is rarely quick or easy. Rebuilding takes time, and support.

I’ve been part of the 20 Minutes to Fitness community since 2010, and when Jacque was transferred to the Bemiston lot location four years ago, she became a bright light for many of us. Her strength, warmth, and kindness have left a lasting mark on everyone lucky enough to know her.

That’s why I’ve started this GoFundMe—to help Jacque, her family, and their neighborhood begin the long journey of rebuilding. 100% of the donations will go directly to Jacque.
