In 2024, the Kerrigan family from Brielle, NJ received news that from what Tom Kerrigan believed to be a lingering surfing related injury (pain on his rib) was in fact a tell that there was a much greater issue at hand. After several tests at HMH Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, just before Christmas, our family came to know that Tom was actually suffering from Stage 4 Lung Cancer that was metastasizing to the brain and bones. Doctor Windsor (amongst a team of doctors, friends) began treatment of targeted therapy. After 6 months of enduring treatment, medical imaging showed no signs of cancer, and 3 months later it was back. After spending nearly half of October 2025 in the hospital, since then Tom has been undergoing several rounds of a mixture of both chemotherapy and immunotherapy. This has left Tom to take leave of active duties in his job, selling life insurance. As medical bills climb and the cost of living catches up, I hope to help raise money for a man who'd be the first to give you his last dollar. The battle with Cancer is a ferocious one, one where if Tom focuses on just this fight, he can go to war and knock this thing out once and for all! We all know stress in and of itself is a killer, so any means to reduce the financial stresses, the quicker we can get Tom healthy and back in the line up at Manasquan Inlet!
Tom is a man who is the first to offer you a beer and his ear, to let you talk through your problems, but most notably, to pursue a path to solving them. An active athlete and member of the local surf community (Manasquan Board Riders Club), this news obviously comes as a shock to the sentinel of health.
The Kerrigan's thank all for their love, prayers, and support through this battle. To not touch upon the power of positive thought and prayer would be a huge miss. They all count and are some of the most powerful things we can do in this battle.
Note that all donations help to remove the financial burden that comes with extensive treatments, therapies, and the voyage ahead, arming Tom with the tools he needs on the road to recovery.
