Friends, Family, and Wellwishers of Josefina (Josie),

We were crushed to hear in February of 2022 that Josefina Antonio Garcia (Palley) was given the heartbreaking diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer with metastasis to the liver, lungs, and chest. At just 39 years old, Josefina, her husband Chris, and their children Tony (10) and Mia (4) instantly had their lives upended. In the past 14+ months, Josefina has courageously undergone several surgeries and chemotherapy treatments while under palliative care to control this terrible disease. Chris and Josefina have explored many standard and emerging treatment options. Unfortunately, none of the treatments showed lasting effect and with no promising options left, Josefina has entered into at-home hospice care.

Josefina and Chris have been very thankful for the love, support, visits, phone calls, and other help and sentiment they've received. Many, including close friends like us, have been asking what more they can do to help. There is now a need for additional at-home care that is not covered by insurance. As you can imagine following her diagnosis, additional costs for treatments and consultations have accrued and things like family vacations have been very limited due to her treatments and health uncertainty. With all the challenges the Palleys face, we'd like money to not be a worry. This campaign will help Josefina and Chris fund medical expenses and at-home care, child care, and other expenses as they navigate this difficult journey. Any excess funding will go towards wellness care, family travel and activities, and education funds for the kids.

About the Palleys:

Josefina and Chris have been married for 14 years. Their lives together have taken them from Santa Maria to being homeowners in the East Bay Area and back to Santa Maria with some incredible adventures to Mexico along the way, especially to Oaxaca where Josefina was born and lived as a child. Many of Josefina's siblings live in the Santa Maria area and were a big reason they returned. In October 2021 they were thrilled to purchase their current home in nearby Orcutt, CA. Their family vision was upended just five months later after Josie's diagnosis.

Josefina y Chris han estado casados por 14 años.
