For those who don’t know- Tim Kelly had a liver transplant and his donor was his son Joey- All went very well until last Friday. Tim is a great guy, caring, religious and a long time member of the Dillsburg community. He is on the Board of Supervisors for Carroll Township but most importantly, he is a husband. Dad, and grandfather. Help us to relieve some of the financial burden from his family so they can focus on Tim getting better!
Below is where Tim and his family are today.
Update on Tim from Julia his wife.
Tim was doing well all day last Friday, but seemed to go downhill Friday evening and I made the decision that something was not right and called 911 around 8 pm and had him taken into the emergency room. I called the transplant team on our way to the hospital so they were aware that we were on our way back to the hospital. In the ER, they quickly had a suspicion that he had sepsis and pulled some culture blood samples. Someone from the transplant team meet us in the ER about 45 minutes later and quickly had Tim transferred back over to the TICU (transplant intermediate care unit.)

Saturday Tim had another angiogram that revealed he had a blood clot in the hepatic artery on the donor side of the liver. Joey’s hepatic artery is smaller than Tim’s and blood clots in that area are not unusual after transplant because they “patch” the artery together using some cadaver donor too. The IR team inserted a sheath directly into the blood clot and over the next 48 hours fed blood thinner directly to that area. Monday’s angio revealed the sheath had moved, the blood clot really had not dissolved, so they inserted 4 stints in an attempt to get the blood clot to dissolve. 8 hours later there was no change. The sepsis does a number on the liver and kidneys to begin with, and Tim’s kidneys are fine, but coupled with the low blood flow into the new liver, some heavy damage had already been done. The transplant team has decided that Tim needs to be re-transplanted. Blood clots are not unusual, but they fact that they could not breakup or dissolve the clot was pretty unusual. Tim was listed on Wednesday for a liver. This time around, he will get a WHOLE liver.

He is in good spirits, was moved up to 11 North this evening and will remain there until they find another liver for him.
Please just keep praying for us and sending good thoughts our way! Our faith, the army of family and friends supporting us on the home front and the transplant team are keeping us moving forward.

update as of 6/21/24evening- Tim received a new liver today. He is now resting. Please send prayers for Tim and for the family who donated the liver
