Hello, my name is Thomas "T" Watson. On February 7, 2025, as I was getting ready for work as a Box Truck owner/operator, I suffered an 'AVM' (Arteriovenous Malformation) which caused my entire left side of my body to go numb. I was able to call for help and get to the hospital, at which time they discovered that I had active bleeding in my brain that needed to be repaired. Once the surgery was complete, I was sedated and on a breathing machine for 5 days. Once the breathing machine and sedation were removed, I woke up and realized I couldn't move my left side of my body. I was confused and scared all at the same time. For weeks, I had to relearn how to eat, swallow, and walk.
I am so blessed to have had a hospital in my city that had a Neurosurgeon who performed my surgery, which saved my life. I am also blessed to have received care at the Shepherd Center Pathway. Each day as I walked through the halls at the Shepherd Center, I realized all the miracles that were happening around me, and that I too am a miracle. I have come a long way since February 7, 2025, but I still have a long way to go. I went from being in a hospital bed for almost 30 days, relying on a wheelchair to get around, and now walking with a cane with limited use of a wheelchair.
I am still unable to fully use my left arm and hand, but I keep pushing forward with the understanding that God kept me here for a reason, and for that, I am grateful. I am also grateful for my family and friends and all the prayers for me. So as I continue to recover from my AVM, I will stay strong and focused on getting better every day. I am needing help due to my AVM; all donations recieved will go towards incoming bills, medical, and living expenses. Thank you for all your donations. If you are unable to donate at this time, please share with others, again Thank You.
