7/14 Update (the B E S T one yet )

PATHOLOGY UPDATE

We are overjoyed to share that Jarrod’s tumor is BENIGN! He is officially diagnosed with a Pilocytic Astrocytoma, Grade 1- the best possible outcome we could have hoped for! 

 A follow-up MRI is scheduled in 1 month; but the expectation is that this will be monitored annually, with no further treatment required.

7/8/2025 Update 

Psalm 34:4 reminds us “I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” 

After nearly 2 months, J is headed BACK. TO. WORK. adding yet another answered prayer to the list!

Please shift those prayers and focus to 7/14- •The neuro-oncology appointment 

•Pending pathology reports 

•Divine intervention, healing and PEACE.  

THOMPSON TRIBE: the days have been long, and the wait longer than expected… but God is so clearly moving. Lean in. Lift up J and Holly. Continue to be the hands and feet. All thanks be to Him.

7/2/2025

J has been C L E A R E D by Opthalmology and found himself behind the wheel today for the first time since 5/14!  

In this current season of waiting (and more waiting), this is no small feat and we are so grateful for this milestone. 

PRAYER REQUESTS: 

-Next up is follow up with Neurosurgery on 7/7- J is hoping to be released to work on this day. 

-Pathology is still pending with NIH, giving us more time to intercede on his behalf. As a result, his appointment with Neuro-Oncology has been pushed to 7/14. J and Holly are hopeful for clarity and direction on where to next. 

THOMPSON TRIBE: please continue to pour into this family as God continues to move. We believe in the power of prayer and there is a peace within our circle that can only be explained as the hand of God.

6/13/2025

J had his 1 month follow-up with Neurosurgery yesterday; repeat CT was stable!  

He has now been referred to Ophthalmology due to continued issues with his left peripheral vision. This appointment is scheduled for 7/2 and will play a key role in determining when he can return to work. 

-Pathology results from the NIH are still pending. 

-Please add this upcoming Ophthalmology appointment to your prayers… Pray specifically for COMPLETE RESTORATION of his vision.

“The one where Jarrod sees the neuro-oncologist and gets… MORE questions.” (Leave it to J!)

Quick refresher: After FGH pathology confirmed the presence of a tumor, they sent samples to Cleveland Clinic for further analysis. Cleveland Clinic has now recommended additional specialized testing which has to be performed by the NIH (National Institutes of Health). Pending these results (which could take a few more weeks), Jarrod will be referred to either MD Anderson or UAB to establish care.

As you can imagine, Holly and J were once again caught off guard—left with more questions than answers… and so… we wait.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

•Patience in the wait. Romans 12:12 instructs us: “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” May our Thompson fam maintain HOPE, be PATIENT in the ongoing uncertainty, and remain CONSTANT in prayer.

•Upcoming Neurosurgery appointment – 6/12.

Jarrod will have a repeat CT scan prior to this appointment. Pray boldly and speak CLEAR SCANS.

•Jarrod’s healthcare team- prayers for wisdom, clarity, and resolution as his doctors collaborate to determine the best path forward.

As you might recall, we have been anxiously awaiting Jarrod’s pathology results. Preliminary reports revealed tumor confirmation and those samples have been sent to Cleveland Clinic for further genetic testing. In preparation, Jarrod has been referred to a neuro-oncologist. 

While these developments are unexpected, we remain steadfast in FAITH. We believe in a God who walks with us in every valley and stands with us in every storm. Jarrod and Holly continue to glorify and worship Him with courage and hope—and we will stand beside them in prayer, love, and support. 

THOMPSON TRIBE: Please flood Heaven with prayers—for COMPLETE healing, wisdom for his healthcare team, and for peace that surpasses all understanding. God is good. Always.

THE BEGINNING 

Jarrod suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on Wednesday, 5/14, and it was determined the stroke was triggered by a mass in his parietal lobe. His neurosurgery team at Forrest General Hospital performed a craniotomy on 5/16, and there was NO MASS. God has continued to heal Jarrod, and he was discharged home on 5/19. Jarrod continues to battle a few neurological deficits, including left peripheral vision loss along with generalized weakness. His continued healing will require approximately 1 month off work.

As we all know, life goes on even when we can’t… And that’s where the Thompson Tribe comes in. Please donate as you can and continue to cover both Jarrod and Holly in prayer - his testimony is one for the ages, and God is NOT done yet!
