Miles for Micah: Help me raise funds to support our friend, 2-year-old Micah, as he fights ASPS Cancer

I will be running the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 4, 2025 in support of Micah Dadig. My goal is to raise funds for him and his family as he continues to undergo cancer treatment.

I was lucky enough to meet Micah, along with his sister, Quinn, and mom, Dana, during my maternity leave in early 2024. Our paths crossed - and I truly believe it was God’s plan - when I joined a mom’s group at my church. I’m so grateful for the bond that we built during that time. Dana and I became fast friends, sharing notes and conversations about motherhood as we spent many of our days together taking our kids to parks, libraries and museums in the area.

As I got to know Dana and her family, I learned about Micah’s cancer journey. Just a few weeks after celebrating his first birthday in November 2023, Dana noticed Micah’s eye appeared to be swollen. After a few visits to the pediatrician, a CT scan was recommended. Following the scan, Micah was diagnosed with Alveolar Soft-Part Sarcoma (ASPS). This is an extremely rare type of cancer that does not respond to chemotherapy or radiation. Due to this, the doctors determined that the best course of action was to remove the tumor and anything it was touching, which required Micah to lose his left eye. Although the surgery was a success, a scan and biopsy was done this summer that confirmed the cancer, ASPS, was still near the area where the original tumor was found. Since then, Micah has had surgery to insert a mediport for immunotherapy which is the only treatment option available that is known to have an effect on ASPS.

Micah is a sweet, active, friendly and smart little boy. His mom and dad, Dana and Andrew, are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They have been through an incredibly hard, and at times, overwhelming journey but I continue to be in awe of their positivity and strength. I will be thinking about this as I run for Micah in May.

Any money raised will be provided to the Dadig family to ease the financial burden of the expenses associated with Micah’s cancer diagnosis. Every contribution - no matter the size - will make a positive difference. Thank you for supporting my race by considering to help Micah as he continues to receive rounds of immunotherapy to fight the cancer. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
