Join the Pack: Help Loryn Beat Aplastic Anemia

Donation protected
Life has a way of bringing people together when they need each other most — often through unexpected and beautiful ways. For Loryn and me, that bond was built through our shared love of dogs.

In 2022, Loryn first reached out to me about a puppy from my breeding program. She wasn’t just looking for a dog — she was looking for a partner, a companion, and a dream she had waited so long for. What started as a simple inquiry quickly grew into a deep friendship. Loryn eventually brought home one of my puppies, and over the years, she has become one of my biggest supporters, a passionate dog trainer, and one of my closest friends.

But life has thrown an unimaginable challenge her way. Since March 9th, 2025, Loryn’s life has been turned upside down. After a hospital stay, a bone marrow biopsy, and more doctor’s appointments and bloodwork than she can count, she has been diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anemia — a rare and life-threatening bone marrow failure disease. In addition, testing revealed that Loryn has a PNH clone and a RUNX1 gene mutation, complicating her situation even further.

Her bone marrow can no longer produce the blood cells she needs to survive. She is currently relying on blood transfusions to stay alive until a suitable bone marrow donor can be found. Because of the RUNX1 mutation, she will need a full bone marrow transplant rather than a simpler stem cell transplant.

Loryn will be hospitalized for at least one month for pre-transplant treatments, the bone marrow transplant itself, and immediate post-transplant care. After discharge, she will require ongoing treatment at the hospital three times a week for about three months, during which she won’t be able to drive and will continue to need transfusions.

She and her husband are raising two small children, alongside three beloved dogs who are part of their family. With Loryn unable to work, losing her much-needed income, and her husband needing to take time off to support her through transplant appointments, hospital stays, and recovery, the financial burden is overwhelming. The cost of treatment, medications, childcare, travel, and everyday living expenses will quickly climb into the tens of thousands of dollars — a weight no family should have to carry alone.

Supporting Loryn feels especially close to my heart.

Two years ago, I lost my mother to leukemia (AML), and shortly afterward, I was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer myself. I truly believe that God paved the way for Loryn to enter my life so that I could now stand by her — not just as a friend, but as a voice of hope and strength.

Now, Loryn needs all of us. If you’ve followed my journey and my dogs, you already know how much heart goes into everything we do. Loryn is family — not by blood, but by loyalty, love, and the path that the dogs set us on.

Please help us rally around her. Whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing her story, it means the world.

Your support will directly help with:
 • Transplant-related medical expenses
 • Life-saving medications
 • Loss of income while her husband cares for her and their children
 • Ongoing bloodwork, travel, and everyday living costs

Above all, Loryn is asking for prayers — prayers for her doctors, for the perfect donor match to be found, for her donor, for her treatment plan to succeed, for full healing, and for strength for her family as they walk this difficult road together.

If you are between 18–40 years old and would like to help beyond a donation, please consider registering as a potential bone marrow donor through Be The Match. Blood type doesn’t matter — matches are based on HLA markers — and registering could help save Loryn’s life or someone else’s.

Every donation, every share, every prayer brings Loryn and her family one step closer to healing.

From the bottom of my heart — thank you for standing with us.

 Strong Alone. Monumental Together.
