Life is kinda depressing sometimes, isn't it? Fortunately, we have laughter, a reaction we all share, regardless of age, station, or location. Better still, we have music, it needs no words to speak to us in its purest form, no translations. We all speak the same language in music. The days are getting darker, we will need laughter and music more than ever.

So I wrote a musical comedy titled "Florida Man." (Well, SOMEONE had to) And tweaked the concept just a bit to make it family-friendly.

Florida Man tells the story of Paul Powers, a recently retired electrician with WAY too much time on his hands. A single father, he feels guilty for not being very present in his daughter's childhood while scrambling to make ends meet after the death of his wife. He worries that she might resent him for that, and that he would disappoint her...................so he decides to be a superhero.

It's not going well.

This extremely chaotic musical has a run time of a little over two hours, and able to be performed in theaters of all kinds, from high schools to off-Broadway with full orchestra. There is a core cast of 8, and a full cast of 12 to 20. It features the "real" superhero with terrible anxiety for some reason, starting to twitch and whose mind is four seconds from snapping, He is also a rookie cop........and yes, he falls for the daughter, who has returned home after 6 years of medical school, an older middle aged "superhero" who has no idea how to give up, somehow destroying almost everything he touches, the bestie who holds the entire town together with duct tape and pastries and occasionally a sword fight, and a mayor who is absolutely not the supervillain, along with his sidekick Karen Kommando, who has ISSUES, a lost sheep, and a very confused alligator. Over all of this, there are "The Dads", who smash the fourth wall in four-part harmony as they engage the audience with running commentary, heckle the cast, and occasionally tell terrible Dad jokes.

This has been a passion project of mine for going on three years, and so far I have been funding it myself (copywriting is insane) and recruiting volunteers. I have reached the point that I can no longer do that....building an "official" website, hiring an orchestral composer, and vocal composer, finding a producer, all the stage equipment, auditioning, etc. etc. are beyond my reach. But I am going to get this to a stage, somewhere, somehow. Any help in getting it one step closer would be greatly appreciated. (Any person or group making donations of more than 300 will be listed as sponsors in the playbill) (I may add levels to that)
