Hi, my name is Larry Hermann. On behalf of my dear friend, Nick, I spearheaded this campaign along with Dr. Gregory Pappas M.D., and several other team members dedicated to helping the Drakos family. In addition to Nick's medical needs, his family has just been devastated by another tragic "medical perfect storm" - a full-blown stroke and cancer diagnosis. The three life-threatening, simultaneous events have drained all their financial reserves and healthcare insurance resources.

Nick has been struggling due to a catastrophic heart attack leaving him with 80% heart damage. He has come to a crossroads of exhausting all Advanced Heart Failure Treatments with only a Heart Transplant as the final course of action.

Having served honorably in the United States Navy and USMC Fleet Marine Force as medical personnel, he experienced combat firsthand in Desert Storm and other theaters of operation. After the military, Nick worked in major metropolitan medical centers in the Emergency Room and Critical Care environment. His career was cut short, left unable to work by his cardiac condition. For the last 12 yrs., he has seen what it means to be " on the other side of healthcare, receiving care rather than providing it. Nick’s religious faith has carried him through to today. He still smiles and thanks the Lord for each day with family and friends.

The stress is ever-present due to all the financial responsibility that falls on his shoulders.
