Deezyboy’s story..

Campobassos Corso Diezel, Deezyboy for short, is a pure bred Cane Corso born on August 18, 2021. About 8 months ago, his health started to decline and he began having difficulty swallowing and keeping food down. After multiple emergency vet visits, x-rays, ultrasounds, medications and ultimately exploratory surgery, he was diagnosis with bloat and a gastropexy was performed. At that time, Wayne and I also had a strong feeling that something was going on in his throat. While under anesthesia, our vet did inspect the inside of his mouth/throat, and found that his soft pallet was a little longer than he would have liked to have seen, but he wasn’t terribly concerned about it at that time.

Fast forward to a month ago… Once again, we started to notice that Deezy was not only struggling to swallow his food, but he was also having a really time breathing. He was chocking and gagging on everything he tried to swallow. We immediately brought him back to our vet, and the decision was made to send our sweet boy to see a surgeon specialist at a much larger veterinary hospital here in Norwalk, in order to properly diagnosis/treat whatever was going on in his throat. So last week, we met with the specialist to who truely believes that the symptoms Deezy has been presenting with, is more than likely one of the following. ….

1. Neuromuscular Disorder

2. An elongated soft pallet issue

3. Laryngeal Paralysis

All of the above conditions are treatable/manageable with medications and/or corrective surgery, and his prognosis would be really good with the right surgery/treatment. If we can make it over this enormous hump, Deezy could live a long, healthy, happy life!!! ♥️♥️♥️

We were given a quote of $3400-$3700 JUST FOR FURTHER TESTING WITH THE SPECIALIST IN ORDER TO COME TO A CLEAR DIAGNOSIS SO WE KNOW HOW TO PROCEED!!!

Over this past weekend, Deezy’s health has once again, started to rapidly decline. He is no longer able to swallow ANY food, and has lost over 45lbs!! We rushed him back to our vet first thing Monday am as an emergency case because his breathing was also very shallow and had become extremely labored. I thought we were losing him… We opted to have more X-rays done as to rule out megaesophagus, which he was negative for. Upon a non-sedative exam, our vet found that his throat was very swollen to the point where there was no enough space for food to go down, which is also effecting his ability to breath normally.

As you can imagine, we have already spent well over $13,000 on medical care for our boy over the past 8 months… Time is NOT on our side and we are now forced to make an immediate decision on what to do next. Without the further testing and either treatment and/or corrective surgery (Between another $5,000-$8,000) our Deezy will die.

For those of you who know us personally, and/or have faithfully followed our Deezy on social media, know that Deezy is so very loved and is an extremely huge part of our family. We cannot do this alone, and we are asking for everyone that loves our boy to help us save his life!!

I also just want to mention that if God has other plans for our sweet boy, your donations will not be made in vein.. If we lose him at anytime during this process, after paying his medical bills, any and all funds leftover will be donated in Deezy’s name to Must Love Corso Rescue.

Wayne and I know this is a huge task… but as long as he is willing to fight.. then that’s what we will do. We are begging our beloved Cane Corso Community, family, friends, followers and animal lovers alike, to come together in order to help give our special boy his life back!!
