Join the Fight to Preserve a Cherished Home

We are raising money to save our family home. My parents bought the home nearly 50 years ago, but it was on leased land and the lease expires in 4 years. The landowner put our land on the market, without telling us, and is selling it for 1.5 million dollars.

We have tried to talk to the landowner, but the person in charge refuses to talk with us and has recently indicated that he will only talk to a lawyer. In researching the cost of a lawyer we have found that it will require $10,000 just to retain a lawyer.

While we do not have 1.5 million dollars, we know that in today’s society of social media and sharing, all we need is for people to give whatever they can and then share with family and friends and ask them to give as well. With many social media posts getting well over a million views, it is not impossible, if 1.5 million people see this campaign and each gives $1 (or maybe $2 to cover taxes and fees) we will easily attain this goal.

Throughout my life, my parents were examples of how to live life. My parents are incredibly generous and I can remember throughout my life, we drove cars with, shall we say…character… There were times when we could finally afford to buy a “new” (new to us) car and very frequently when that would happen, my parents would feel called to give that car away to someone who needed it more than we did. In my young mind, I can remember thinking “why don’t we give them our old car and we can keep the newer one…” but that isn’t how my parents lived. They would always give the best that we had and so the new car would go to another family and we would keep driving the car with character. They live giving with a generosity that abounds beyond “normal” limits. They give with an unwavering generosity, sometimes going without, so that others might have.

They have instilled this generosity in us as well and we delight in blessing others.

One of my sister’s remained in Hawaii and works with children diagnosed with Autism and has seen amazing successes with those she works with. She works tirelessly to serve others and to do things for others and I don’t think she has ever taken a true vacation. She works hard and puts others before herself and has taken care of making birthdays, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and other holidays special for my parents for 20 years, since my other sisters and I have moved away from home.

One of my sister’s was a missionary in Kazakhstan, before moving back to the US. She currently teaches courses at a local college where she and her husband live. She works incredibly hard, taking on new tasks, and tacking new problems on a daily basis.

My other sister works incredibly hard balancing a full-time job while also raising three lovely children and works to ensure that they too are being brought up with the same values and work ethic that we were brought up with. She is often awake late into the night and up again early the next morning, in order to accomplish all that is on her plate. In addition to caring for her own family, she goes above and beyond in being a support to those around her, giving of herself, without expectation of anything in return.

I was a Police Officer in the NYPD for 7 years and then moved to India to fight human trafficking there. I lived and worked in India for 5 years before my husband and I moved back to the US, where we now live and are raising two wonderful children. We both still work to combat human trafficking through raising awareness and educating frontline workers and others. We also both work for a local police department. I also teach Human Trafficking Studies and other Criminology courses at a local University and volunteer as President of the Board of Directors for a nonprofit organization.

My family is not the type to ask for help and we have all spent our lives giving to others. My family is the most generous family that I know of and we have all always given above and beyond to those around us. While many families argue about someone else needing to pay or fight over getting money, my family “argues” over each of us wanting to pay, to give money, and to bless the others. When we are together and go to a store, it’s often a “battle” of seeing which one of us can get the cashier to take our money first because we all want to bless each other by paying. We seek to bless each other and to bless those around us. My mother has consistently given whatever she has, even when she has had very little. We all have lived a life of giving, so it is very strange to ask for financial help.

However, we are asking in order to save our family home. In today's world of things going viral and millions of people seeing something, it is an easy goal to attain, if everyone who sees this will give whatever they can. Even just $1 and sharing with everyone in your social media network can help!

Please help to save our family home through giving and sharing. Thank you!

Cost Breakdown: Land cost = $1,500,000
Anything raised above and beyond this will go towards much needed home repairs (termites have done a lot of damage throughout the years and we would love to get some of that fixed!
