Join the fight to help Jaden 'Slam Dunk Cancer'

Friends and Family: 

Like many of you, we began the new year with gratitude and hopes for a wonderful 2023. Instead we were greeted with news that shook our family to the core. Our son Jaden Johnson was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer; a soft-tissue cancer that can infect the blood, bones, lymph nodes, and skeletal muscle tissue.

Following the initial diagnosis, Jaden’s medical team took quick action to remove a mass that was cancerous. We'd hoped this procedure would mark the end of his cancer battle. Sadly, we were met with news weeks later that certain levels remained high and a more invasive surgery would be required to both determine and aid in prevention of further spread of this adversary. Jaden is currently recovering from a successful second surgery focused on the removal of several lymph nodes to also help isolate future treatments. He will be out of work for the foreseeable future while he focuses on his treatment which can and will consist of several rounds of chemotherapy followed by radiation. 

Jaden is 23 years old and facing a long, arduous uphill battle. He is a big brother to two beautiful sisters, a grandson to 3 sets of loving grandparents, a beloved friend to many, a father to a precious baby girl, our 2- year old granddaughter Khenadi, a loving partner to her mother and his girlfriend Arnelle, and our amazingly sweet Son-shine. He is unable to financially suppport his family and disability does not cover cancer patients in his state of residence. Social Security will aid him, yet the process is lengthy and could take several months. He and his partner Arnelle will also have to procure additional daycare services due to the impending treatments, appointments, and therapy Jaden will endure.

If you know Jaden, you know his smile lights up a stadium and his spirit touches everything and everyone who comes in contact with him. He is our warrior prince, he fights for and protects not only those he loves but for those not as fortunate.

Before going any further, we thank God for his love and grace and we pray for healing for Jaden in the name of Jesus Christ. We are asking for your prayers and encouragement in kind. In addition, we ask for contributions of monetary support if you feel so inclined. Your gift of any amount large or small will go a long way to support Jaden and his young family. All funds will go directly towards his living expenses, medical bills, and unforeseen child care expenses during Jaden’s treatment and recovery. 

Although our hearts are heavy, we remain hopeful. As we pray that the Almighty Healer nourish Jaden’s body and soul with the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit, we rely on the words in Psalm 18:39 “For you equipped me with strength for battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.”
