We, Carlos, Lucia, Wioletta, and Isa, are incredibly lucky to have Sergio Fama as our friend. His last name means "Fame", and he truly shines like a star in everyone’s life. Sergio’s infectious laughter, captivating stories, amazing cooking skills, and remarkable talent for photography and photo editing have always brought warmth and light to those around him.
But in 2023, Sergio's world turned upside down. He had major hip surgery, which drained his savings. Then, just as he was beginning to recover, he was diagnosed with throat and mouth cancer. This diagnosis has made even simple tasks like eating and speaking incredibly painful. Without medical insurance, his journey has been tough and uncertain.
Due to his upcoming treatments—chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and more surgery—Sergio can't work, leaving him without a steady income to cover his rent, food, and other basic needs. Now living in Argentina, he's far from his Miami community and struggling not only with his health but also with the uncertainty of how he'll meet his daily expenses. It's heartbreaking to see someone who has always been so vibrant, now in such a vulnerable position.
We created this GoFundMe to help our friend through this difficult time. The money we raise will go toward his medical bills, rent, food, and other essentials so he can focus on getting better without worrying about making ends meet. Sergio has already lost significant weight and has a long road ahead, but he's a fighter – he can’t do it alone.
Even if you’ve never met Sergio, you might understand his situation. He's the kind of person who'd give you the shirt off his back, even when he has little to spare. His generosity and warmth are rare. If he knew we were asking for help on his behalf, he'd probably tell us not to…but we can't stay silent while our friend is in need. He has brought so much light into our lives, and now it's our turn to support him.

- These pictures were captured by Sergio in 2022 in Patagonia, where Sergio served as a safari tour guide. Enduring severe weather conditions, that eventually led to hip issues, requiring hip replacement surgery in 2023. Throughout it all, Sergio persevered with love, capturing breathtaking images of his surroundings.
