This is a small initiative by Abizer Amreliwala, Burhanuddin Kapasi, Naina Trivedi & Abdulqadir Painter to spread the word through our knowns and other means around Canada, the USA, and possibly other parts of the world to collect funds from the fortunate ones here and help utilize those funds with the help of our (the team's) friends volunteering back home to reach out to the people who require your help.
At the time of this writing India has reported 24,031,730 cases and 262,044 deaths due to Covid-19. The numbers do not seem to calm, and rather things at our end are just getting worse daily due to the large population, minimal government help, and the ignorance of people.
Metro cities and many townships are in grave conditions despite the active help received.
In Canada, the USA, and other first-world countries, we are still in better shape with better surroundings and immediate help if required. Though, let's not forget families, friends, and known and unknown people still back home in India, every day waking up to the fear of the possibility of things getting worse.
We are planning to, with the help of our friends back home to arrange for things like:-
1. Food (Cooked & Raw materials, Fruits & Vegetables)
2. Water
3. Medicines like (Vitamin C and other immunity boosters, Painkillers, fever reducers, etc.)
4. Sanitizers
5. Masks
6. Toiletry kits
7. Oxygen & related supplies if we reach a certain target above our goal.
8. And are open to any suggestions provided by the donors.
The goal is to help the poor by providing them with materials to stay healthy and maintain their health to fight this pandemic. A healthier state of the body with proper precautions could help reduce the chances of getting Covid-19 or getting Covid-19 effects and other illnesses that could enhance the covid effects.
With the single Canadian Dollar hitting almost 60 INR and USD - 74 INR, this could be the best time to make our contributions and make a difference despite being away from home.
Funds will be distributed equally among friends volunteering in metro cities and a few towns. We aim to provide raised funds to small-scale helpers/volunteers to increase the total number of volunteers in the country and increase the reach of help even further deep.
We will keep providing updates often on GoFundMe as to how your money is helping people in India.
We, organizers, are donating are trying to donate a large sum out of our earnings. And thus, I hope you all hop in with whatever possible.
