This is my mom, Sarah Dunn. She's been a nurse for 38 years. If you know her, you know how she sacrifices and gives of herself for others — whether in her personal life or her nursing profession. Over the years, she's served the community, the homeless, and the under-served, but she primarily worked in the ICU as a dialysis nurse for 20 years, and for the last 18 years has been in the ER providing compassionate care while performing evidence collection for survivors of sexual assault.

She desperately needs your help now as she fights Chronic Lyme Disease (CLD). Our search for effective treatment has spanned over 4 years. CLD is not recognized by our healthcare system and treatment is not covered by insurance. It attacks the body systems overall —especially the neurological, brain, bone marrow, lymphatics, immunity, hormones, and organs. It's debilitating for anyone, and especially life-altering for a person who enjoys being active.

The symptoms are chronic unrelenting migrating pain, weakness, fatigue, and poor endurance, which results in the inability to perform usual activities. Showering, getting dressed or in and out of a car or chair is difficult due to the neurological effects. Speech, memory, and concentration are impacted — a daily frustration for a very bright, articulate, and interactive person.

She manages the best she can, does whatever she can tolerate, and works hard on her mental fortitude — quite remarkable for anyone under these circumstances. She doesn't want to complain or be a burden. My mom is heartbroken that she was forced to limit her working capacities due to CLD, and still wants to take care of others despite her illness. She is a special nurse and mother and deserves to be well.

In 2021, my mom sold her car and motorcycle to pay for a one-year laser treatment protocol, which made some improvements...but sadly not a sustained result and was temporary.
