David Childers has been called a proverbial study in contradictions. He has the “aw-shucks” demeanor of a country boy but is a true renaissance man who is a painter, performer and poet. His unique storytelling through his songwriting and stage presence has made him a revered North Carolina legend.

Bob Crawford, of the Avett Brothers, calls Childers “a great friend, a great thinker and a great man … a true North Carolina treasure.” Childers is the kind of treasure who can spread joy wherever people love listening to great songs. In other words, just about anywhere. Or everywhere.

David is a selfless human who derives joy from making others happy. David was recently diagnosed with cancer. He has worked hard and hustled his whole life, but now he cannot tour while undergoing treatments. Now, it’s our turn to help him.
