Join Thaissa’s fight against advanced stage 4 cancer

My name is Addie. My best friend Thaissa, at 36 years old, has been diagnosed with advanced Stage 4 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma that has metastasized to her lymph system, bones, liver, and brain.

I met her when I resided in Acton, Massachusetts, as a young teenager, and we attended high school together. I’ve had the privilege of growing up with her. She was my maid of honor at my wedding, and we’ve raised our babies together when she lived in Massachusetts and from afar when she uprooted and moved to Florida! This woman has been pivotal and such an important role in my life since the day I met her, and she means the world to my family and me.

Thaissa is a devoted single mother of 5 incredible children, ages 3, 10, 12, 17, and 19. I’ve been blessed enough to watch their family grow and grow over the years!

Her 3 youngest children are homeschooled by her alone with a rigorous curriculum, with the exception of her 17-year-old son who is about to graduate high school next month. He is expanding his horizons as he plans to embark on a program to be a youth ambassador through CBYX - Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange - in Germany! Her oldest, her 19-year-old daughter, was blessed with a scholarship to study abroad and is attending Franklin University in Switzerland, currently. Between errands, running her kids to classes in Tampa for chorus, music and theatre, art therapy, equine therapy, and all their appointments, getting the kids where they need to be to continue furthering their education, and her needing full days of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, medical consults, and pain management follow-ups and more, her family needs a miracle of support and help. Thaissa has optimized their schedules to provide the pathway to the BEST education for her littles so she can set them up with a strong foundation for an incredible future. Please help us come together so their routine isn’t halted.

Thaissa’s children are her world, and she is their rock, sole provider, educator, and all-around selfless, loving, dedicated mother. She plays so many roles and has kept each of her children involved in the community and busy. As her disease progresses, day-to-day activities are being put on hold just so she can manage her symptoms.

As of now, since her disease has progressed so rapidly, she does not qualify for radiation. She is undergoing intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy for pain management and control.

I am currently helping any way that I can with her family’s needs, but the most challenging part is that I live in New Hampshire with two children of my own, and she resides in Florida. I spent a weekend to check in and spend time with them, and after learning how difficult and challenging simple tasks have been for her, I’ve extended my stay for an additional six days. My goal has been to help with expenses, errands, rides, laundry, cooking, cleaning, and any/everything else she and her children need.

Anything you can provide is appreciated beyond words. But beyond that, Thaissa and her family (and ours) believe in God and know the power of the Lord's healing. We ask that you share her story, pray for her family, and pray for healing. We pray that people come together, and that somehow we can return her to the selfless, energized powerhouse we know she is, and provide to HER the way she has always provided to everyone she has known and loved.
