My Wife Teri was diagnosed with a Rare Follicular Lymphoma Cancer at 48 years old. At the beginning of September 2024, she started to feel physically unwell, experienced large dips in energy, had regular night sweats, bloating and pain. She couldn’t do the things she would usually find so easy. She was quite naive to the possibility that these were serious symptoms. She went to see the doctor and was told that she had those symptoms due to stress. They even told her that she was too young for it to be cancer and ruled that out straight away. While waiting on some results, a lump appeared under along my neck. She doesn’t remember this lump quite hard and big. Something wasn’t right.
Nothing can prepare you for how you’re going to feel when you hear the news. She was overcome with an immense feeling of fear and anxiety. Her mind goes to the worse case scenarios, “Am I going to die? How long do I have left?”. She was in pure disbelief that she had cancer at 48 years old. It didn’t feel real. She thought, at any moment she would wake up from this nightmare. She just tried to stay positive and hope for the best.
