Join Team Tammy & Otis for Healing

What do Tammy (left) and Otis have in common? They’re two super sweet cocker spaniels who needed our help.

Tammy’s ACL had limited her mobility considerably, and she’s been in pain for a while. “ACL is a ligament which stabilizes the knee joint. Injuries are common and can lead to lameness, swelling, and long-term arthritis if not treated properly.”

She just completed her surgery this week, and the photo shows Tammy as she’s being released from the hospital. Hope you heal soon, Tammy.

Otis fractured his bone after his foster dad rolled the ball a few feet, and as Otis was retrieving it, he yelped and cried, holding up his paw. Otis will undergo complicated surgery on Friday. In the meantime, the surgeon applied a splint and cone to keep everything safe from chewing.

These two dogs are both determined and resilient. Tammy, even in pain, would wander around outside, but soon her explorations would become less and less. Otis, with his fractured leg, was still hoping someone would roll his ball so he could hop around to retrieve it. Sorry, Otis, your foster family needs to keep you contained.

After their long recoveries, Tammy will be exploring her yard again freely, without pain, while Otis will be delighted to chase his ball.
