Hi everyone! My name is Sydney and I’m a second-year graduate student pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Professional Counseling. I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to study abroad in Costa Rica, but I need your help to make it happen!

This program will allow me to deepen my understanding of mental health and counseling in a global context while immersing myself in a new culture. A major focus of this study abroad trip is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)—a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps people embrace their thoughts and emotions rather than fight against them. ACT teaches psychological flexibility, mindfulness, and values-based living, and this trip will give me the chance to see these principles in action in a different cultural setting.
