Please Join Susie's Fight Against an Aggressive Cancer

Hi, everyone. My name is Lisa Warnick and I have been a friend of Susie Price’s for many, many years. Susie is one of the sweetest, most loving people I have ever known. As cliché as it sounds, she would give you the shirt off her back and wouldn’t think twice about it. She is not one to complain and does not like to ask for help, but with her mounting medical bills, she really needs help now, which is why I have set up this fundraising page for her.

In April 2021, just a few short months after her husband passed away, Susie learned that she had cancerous tumors in her body; the doctor didn’t waste time, and she began chemo treatments shortly thereafter. The tumors were significantly reduced by the chemo but it was very, very hard on her body.

Unfortunately, the tumors quickly began to grow again and since that time, she has undergone many different forms of treatment to get them under control. Although some of these treatments worked in the short run, none of them have been tremendously successful.

In November 2024, Susie found out that her latest treatment did not shrink the tumors. In fact, they had significantly grown once again, and her oncologist told her there were no more treatment options available to her in Bay County, where she lives. That was devastating news for Susie but, true to her spirit, she wasn’t about to give up.

She traveled to Jacksonville to meet with a specialist at the Mayo Clinic who has a great reputation for treating rare and difficult cancers. We prayed that Dr. Attia would find some alternative treatments for Susie to help extend her life. The doctor said there were, in fact, a few good treatments she could still try so he called Susie’s PC oncologist to explain what those treatment options were and what needed to be done to help her. He said that the treatment could be completed in Panama City, which would be much easier on her.

The cancer she has is called Uterine Leiomyosarcoma, which is a rare, aggressive cancer of the smooth muscle of the uterine lining, which can metastasize to the lung, liver, bone, soft tissue, etc. In Susie’s case, it is ravaging her lungs. She has been battling this for almost 4 years now and the financial end of this cancer battle continues to be daunting.

At the beginning of this year, Susie was hospitalized for 12 days with acute respiratory failure. She had pneumonia, which resulted in a pneumothorax and caused a large amount of fluid to accumulate in her lungs. We were truly afraid she was not going to make it through that incident. She is now on nighttime oxygen and is undergoing new cancer treatments to inhibit the growth of her tumors.

She is continually battling her insurance company to try to have her treatments and hospitalization covered. This has become a financial and emotional nightmare for Susie and her son, Eric.

There are extremely high medical bills that are not covered by insurance and Susie is on a very limited budget. It is hard for her to ask for financial help, but she is at a point now where she really does not have any other option.

We know that it is a difficult time for many people in today’s economy. However, if you can find it in your heart - and your budget - to donate to Susie’s fundraiser, she would be forever grateful. Every dollar truly does help. Many of you helped her once before at the beginning of her battle and we sincerely appreciate that, but she still needs help. Susie is a very strong woman, but I would like to try to relieve a little of the financial pressure for her so she can concentrate on her health and getting the tumors back under control.
