Update 8/19/2025

Sully is 2 weeks post treatment. Still has a long way to go but doing good. He was on steroids for a couple of weeks so have a false white blood cell count. It’s lower than they would like it to be at this time so put on antibiotic. Because of the steroid he now has thrush so medicated mouth wash now in the regimen. He has done some eating of soft foods off and on. Is down another 6 pounds (total of 32),but because he’s done so well with drinking and eating to keep muscles active in mouth and throat they aren’t too concerned about it. He should start improving now but still no feeding tube removal for a bit yet. He is sleeping a lot(which is good for him) but it’s making him irritable and moody. He just wants to feel better and enjoy some real food. As long as feeding tube remains in he still won’t be able to work. It will be a while yet to get that out and strength up. He thanks all who have helped out and checked in on him. We both do. CT scan is July 8th with meeting with Dr Fusselman on July 11th. Full PET scan will be scheduled 3 months out from last day of treatment. Please keep prayers coming! Thank you and Love to all!

update as of 6/04/2025
Sully is nearing his last radiation day this Thursday. Swallowing has become more difficult but he continues to find ways to keep eating and swallowing so keeps working the muscles. This will allow for less recovery time and his ability to go back to eating normal food and get the GI tube out. As long as that is in and not healed he won’t be able to return to work. Not sure how long this recovery will be. I just know the next 12-14 days after radiation ends things will get even harder on him before gradually starting to get better. His white blood cells are low to zero so he can’t be around anyone ill. He won’t be able to fight it off so he’s staying stuck at home unless has appointment. He appreciates all the kind words, texts, and calls but especially thankful for any donation he has received that has helped him out with bills. He is the strongest guy we know and determined to get through this. He just hopes he can get his taste buds back and still enjoy a steak , burger, corn and fresh fruits from the market this summer. Thanks again for the prayers, love and kind words.

donations can also be sent to Venmo

On March 17th after scans and test Sully was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma head and neck cancer. This cancer meant a feeding tube for he will not be able to eat food and we are seeing that now. Being a Laborer for Local 43 he is unable to work due to this intense treatment. With having to pay to keep his insurance and other bills he has, People have asked how they could donate so we set this up to help with his medical needs and bills. Sully has a long road of recovery for this is one of if not hardest cancer treatments to endure. He is a fighter and is giving it all he has. Treatments go until June 5th with recovery of ability to swallow, eat, talk etc will extend beyond that. We appreciate and thank you all for the kind words and any help you can give him. Blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. Love to you all
