Join Stan Bray's Fight for Recovery and Hope

Reggie and Ellen Bray’s son, Stan Bray, has been involved in a terrible accident.

Stan and Christina Bray live in Orange Beach, AL and have a beautiful 4-year-old little girl named Josephine.

If you know their family, you know that they love cycling, running, swimming, and snow skiing etc. They recently bought a beautiful new home in Alabama and Stan just earned his electrical contractor's license at the end of June.

On Sunday, July 14th, the whole family was together on a "play date" with Josephine's friends. Stan had an accident at the swimming pool that resulted in a broken neck. Christina pulled Stan out of the water when he sank and administered CPR to revive him until paramedics arrived. He broke the C6 vertebrae and seriously damaged the spinal cord. He was airlifted to Mobile, AL for emergency C6 anterior cervical corpectomy surgery and is in critical condition in the ICU. He has feeling from the chest and above. Stan is alert and aware of what happened. In the first week at the hospital, Stan has already overcome a breathing tube, a feeding tube, a spinal cord leak, depression, extreme pain, and discomfort. He is fighting hard every day!

When he is stabilized, the next part of recovery will take place at The Shepherd Center (a renowned spinal cord injury rehabilitation center in Atlanta). The family has seen a string of miracles that has led to Stan being accepted into such a prestigious rehabilitation center. We feel very confident that this is the place God has prepared for Stan. Stan does not have insurance that will cover the Shepherd Center so we will be paying privately. The 8 weeks of treatment is anticipated to cost between $150,000-200,000. After that, Stan will need some new equipment as well as modifications to their home followed by what is expected to be years of reteaching his nerves to listen.

Stan and Christina will need a large community to support and encourage them through this long recovery process. Christina, his wife, has been a rock and has dropped everything to be Stan's caretaker. But the loss of income for both of them seems overwhelming.

This GoFundMe page is managed by Stan’s sister and his wife. Stan’s extended family has set up a beneficiary bank account that is connected to this page. The funds will go directly to Stan Bray to cover the expense of spinal cord rehabilitation center for 9 weeks. The cost of this treatment is $215,000. Any additional funds collected will be used to purchase medical equipment and modify Stan’s home.
