My name is Sonya. I want to be able to open my own practice. My goal is to provide mental health care at affordable prices to kids and teens that need it. In today's world, kids are already struggling with so much; they may need a little extra help. But mental health services can be costly. Not too long ago, I had to deal with the fact that I could barely afford mental health services for my daughter. I was unable to continue services because of the cost. I thought, how can this be? It made me feel like a failure that I could not help my daughter. This is something no parent should feel when it comes to mental health services. After spending some time at a nonprofit counseling center and being able to provide counseling to those in need, I was able to see the impact and the change in children and teens that may have not been able to get help otherwise. I know I was doing what I was called for.

My goals are to have my own counseling practice and someday I want to expand to have a food pantry, toy, and school supply closet for my clients who may need them. I understand one step at a time. For now, I am trying to save up to get a business license to slowly get it going. If you can help at all, it would be greatly appreciated.
