My name is Debutante Shireen Barekzai and I am honored to be chosen to participate in the prestigious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Xi Upsilon Omega Chapter’s 2025 Cultured Pearls Debutante Cotillion, “Pearls and Power, A Royal Celebration of Excellence”. I, along with 15 other young ladies, will be presented to society on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Fredericksburg Convention Center, Fredericksburg, VA.

Each debutante receives 50% of all money earned through fundraising efforts, which goes toward my college scholarship.

Here is a little about myself! I am a rising senior at Mountain View High School, (MVHS) Stafford, VA, where I maintain a 3.85 GPA. My academic accomplishments include being a full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and an Advanced Studies Diploma candidate. I’m the founder and president of the MVHS Student Engagement Committee, and a member of the MVHS Wildcat Wellness Club. I’m passionate about increasing mental health and self-awareness resources to my student peers. I am also a member of the MVHS Varsity Boys Soccer Marketing team and manage and design all social media postings on MVHS’ Instagram account, which allows me to conduct interviews with the players, edit and publish videos on Instagram. In addition, I serve as one of the MVHS Announcement Anchors and recite the daily morning announcements over the school intercom to keep the students and teacher staff population informed. I enjoy cheerleading and was an active member of MVHS Cheer Team 2023-2025. I currently cheer at Fame Allstars in Fredericksburg VA. My faith is my foundation, and I am a member of Grace Church in Dumfries, VA. where I serve in the youth ministry. In the fall of 2026, I plan to begin college focusing on communications and journalism. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people, learning and sharing their stories.
