Join Sharita's Fight for Haley

My name is Sharita and I’m the mother of Haley Thompson. She’s a 15-year-old sassy, smart, beautiful young girl who enjoys being a part of the high school cheer team. She enjoys being on TikTok, how you love doing hair, and being with her friends from school. Most of all, she loves driving me crazy, her mom. I didn’t realize up until April 29 when I got the worst news of my life. I’ll give you a short story. Haley has cheered since eighth grade. As I said before, she loves it. At the beginning of her ninth grade year last year, she hurt her leg doing something she loves, cheering. All of last year, she continued to have problems with this leg. It just hasn’t gotten any better; the pain continues to progress. So, I had to step in as her mother and say, you know, enough is enough. I don’t want to hear my child complaining about being in pain with this knee, now leg, so I did what all mothers do: I took her to the doctor. We got an x-ray done on April 28 of this year. On April 29, I was not expecting the call that I got with the news that I received. Her doctor called personally, saying it is a bit more. I’m sorry, I’ve been emotional all week. It’s really hard. Basically, she said that it’s not what we thought it was. What I thought it was was some torn ligament, but it’s much worse than that. She tells me that her x-ray shows she has bone cancer on her left back femur bone.
